Pursuant to Standing Order No.46(2)(b), I rise to seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Energy regarding Coal Exploration at Mui Basin in Kitui County. In the statement, the Chairperson should:- (1) Indicate the expected coal yield in tonnes for each of the exploration blocks and the respective live span. (2) State whether he is aware that concession agreements for Blocks C and D were signed in 2013 and that those for Blocks A and B were signed in 2015. (3) Explain the steps the Government is doing to fast-track the exploration of coal in Kitui County for the benefit of the people of Kitui County.
