    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Pursuant to Standing Order No.46(2)(b), I rise to seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, Trade and Industrialization on the state of tourism in Kenya especially in Malindi, Kilifi County. In the Statement, the Chairperson should:- (1) Table the figures of tourists who visited Kenya in 2016 and 2017, highlighting the numbers that visited Kilifi County during the said period. (2) State whether the Government is aware that the numbers of tourists visiting Malindi have gone down mainly due to pollution in the Indian Ocean which has kept away tourists and investors in the tourism industry. (3) Further state whether the Government is aware that some investors in the tourism industry, especially those in Malindi, are threatening to close down their investments due to high pollution in the Indian Ocean that has kept away tourists. (4) Explain the measures that the Government will take to deal with the pollution in the Indian Ocean so as to restore the tourism industry in the country."
