    "content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise pursuant to Standing Order 46 (2) (b) to seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations, regarding the status of women and girls held in prisons and remand facilities in Kenya. In the Statement, the Chairperson should:- (1) Provide the statistics on women and girls held in prisons and remand facilities countrywide. (2) State the capacity of these facilities vis-à-vis the number of women and girls held or detained therein. (3) State the number of trained personnel manning these facilities and whether they are sufficient to guarantee the safety and security of the detainees. (4) Explain what the Government is doing to ensure women and children who are held in custody or imprisoned enjoy the rights and fundamental freedoms in line with Article 51 of the Constitution of Kenya. (5) Outline the measures that have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of women and girls held in correctional facilities. Thank you."
