"content": "So, we are likely to have a generation that will have no mercy on us, as the current mature people who are supposed to take care of them. Right now, all those living with HIV/AIDS have no drugs and as a result we lost 85 people in one camp last year. That is a large number that died out of the HIV related diseases. They look at us as the Government and see that we are not serious. It has been three years since Kenya earned a name “Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)” in their own country. Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, this Committee must be fair. Not all people in IDP camps had farms. Some had their own businesses. When we had the peace committee that went round the country with Mrs. Kilimo, we found one group of ladies who had a salon in Eldoret which was burnt down. She used to be their customer. This is why I am saying as we profile people; let us not profile people only with land. This is because a majority of Kenyans do not have land. We should also profile those who had their businesses and were supporting themselves and educating their children. Six months is a bit on the higher side. I wish the Committee could go round faster. The rains are about to come. When you hear these people pray that it does not rain, it is because they know what is going to happen. The tarpaulins they had are gone. We have had many children born. I am happy Waziri was there one day when a baby girl was born and named after her. I took her to one of the camps sitting on water. But what do we do? They have no beds, they sleep on the floor and water seeps from the bottom. I think we need to show sympathy to these people and resettle them. Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, for those people sitting on huge tracts of land and they are not using them, with the new Constitution that guarantees people good shelter, I think we should persuade them to sell the land to the Government so that it can be used to settle these people. Why should people sit on huge tracts of land when people are suffering? With those few remarks, I beg to support."
