"content": "We took a trip across to Germany just driving. Before that, we went for the flower auction and I saw that they were making more money from our own flowers that we do. I asked what is wrong with us. As we were crossing the border towards Germany, that was where I had a light moment. This was because, first, there was no roadblock. It was just “Welcome to Germany.” Just try to go to Kiambu from here in Nairobi, you will see the problem. At that moment, a song by Bob Marley was playing in the car saying “emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but yourselves can free your minds.” That answered me. The problem with us is that we got physical emancipation but we never freed our minds. That is what we need to do today. If you tie a goat to a tree for two hours and remove the rope, the goat will stay within that radius. We have remained in that radius. Let this be the beginning of a process to deal with the two biggest issues in our country that have led to mental slavery; that is, ethnicity and corruption. That is why I beg to second this legislation. Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir."
