"content": "40 minutes to dispose of Questions which were on the Order Paper, which is quite fine. In future, we must ensure that we deal with Questions as much as possible within one hour. Ideally, Question Time should run from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. in Afternoon Sittings, so that it lasts one hour. But of course, there has to be room for exceptional circumstances. We then spent roughly one hour on Prime Ministers Time, which should ideally last 45 minutes. But this matter was a matter that had a lot of interest in it and so, we allowed that latitude. Hon. Members, in future, we will want to apply the rules strictly and the practice of this House, that when you rise to ask a question, you will ask one question and it will strictly be a question. Do not take the opportunity to ask a question to begin to debate and present your opinion or argue with positions previously taken. On Ministerial Statements, we will allow Members one clarification when you catch the Chair’s eye. Please, note and we will want to live within that practice and, indeed, the spirit of the Standing Orders. Please, note this, so that there are no complaints that some Members are treated more fairly than others as we have, indeed, heard. I thought it was important for me to make this Communication. Those that preside over our business will live strictly within those directions beginning from tomorrow."
