Members, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order No.41, I wish to report to the House that I have received a Message from the Senate regarding its decision on the approval of Members for appointment to the Pan-African Parliament. Hon. Members, the Message reads in part, and I quote: “In accordance with the provisions of Article 5 of the Protocol to the Treaty Establishing the African Economic Community Relating to the Pan-African Parliament, by a resolution passed on Thursday, 29th March 2018, the Senate also approved the appointment of the following Members to the Pan-African Parliament: i. Hon. Jude Njomo, MP. ii. Hon. Beatrice Kones, MP. iii. Hon. Janet Ongera, MP. iv. Sen. (Dr.) Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali, MP; and v. Sen. Stewart Madzayo, MP.” Hon. Members, you will recall that this House, by a resolution passed on Wednesday, 28th March 2018, approved the five Members for appointment to the Pan-African Parliament. Hon. Members, this is therefore to notify the House that the Speakers of both Houses have already conveyed the decision of the Parliament of Kenya to the President. I direct the offices of the Clerks of both Houses to expedite facilitation of the delegation to the Pan-African Parliament ahead of the next meetings scheduled for May 2018 during which elections of the president, meetings of the plenary and permanent committees will be held. Hon. Members making their way in, please take your seats."
