    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I would like to join and support the Petition by my colleague, Hon. Makau, and to say that the practice of compulsory acquisition of land in Kenya is very common. Most public institutions acquiring land are rarely ready to utilise those pieces of land. I know of a case where the Kenya Police has compulsorily acquired land which was initially owned by the Siaya Farmers Training Institute. Our efforts to get them out of that land have been futile. So, this Committee needs to go deep into this issue and help the Government to come up with procedures and mechanisms of compulsorily acquiring land. That way, we will be sure that the acquired land is, indeed, made good use of. The other issue is that when land is acquired and it is not properly utilised, cartels get an opportunity to acquire it irregularly. This is a very important Petition and the Committee in charge of land needs to get deep into the issues that have been cited and come up with a good report."
