    "content": "THAT, residents of Ndau, Kiwayu, Faza, Kizingitini, Pate, Siyu, Manda, Kizuke and Mkunumbi have since time immemorial entirely depended on logging of mangrove forests for their livelihood; THAT, following the ban, more than 15,000 families been affected and are living in abject poverty; THAT, loss of livelihood has caused rise of insecurity in Lamu County; THAT, efforts to resolve this matter with the relevant Government agencies have been futile; and, THAT, the matter presented in this Petition is not pending before any tribunal, court of law or independent body. Therefore, your humble Petitioners pray that the National Assembly, through the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources – (i) Investigates and inquires into the matter with a view to causing the Government to lift the ban on harvesting of mangrove trees; and, (ii) makes any other further order(s) or direction(s) that is deemed fit in the circumstances of the petitioners.
