"content": "The President also mentioned something about the cash transfer, especially to the vulnerable during the recent drought. He mentioned that money was transferred to them so that we can restore their dignity. A long time ago, Kenyans were made to line up in long queues under the scorching sun and heavy rain, so that they can be given one or two gorogoros of maize. They are being given money now, so that they can have the purchasing power and decide on what to buy and what food is good for them. In that spirit, I also want to call upon other cash transfer programmes like the one for the elderly, severely disabled, orphans and vulnerable children to transfer money through mobile money. We should not pay them manually because we destroy their dignity. They may be poor but they have some pride.
