(a) I am aware that on 28th July, 2009 Athi Water Services Board advertised for the expression of interest for the design and building of Maragua Dam, whose site is downstream of Maragua and Gikigii rivers confluence. (b) When constructed, the Maragua Dam reservoir is expected to cover an estimated area of four kilometres square. However, to establish the actual area, my Ministry has engaged a consultant to undertake aerial surveys for the proposed dam area. On completion of this survey, it will be possible to map and identify the number of farmers whose land will be affected by construction of the dam. (c) Once the farmers affected by the dam are identified, they will be compensated in line with the law."
