Temporary Deputy Chairman, I want to support this amendment because some of us come from pastoralist community and we want this money to get to this department so that it can help the pastoralists. The Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock needs to look at the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC). It is a government parastatal which is dying and that is where many pastoralists are supposed to benefit from their animals. Why should we have people supplying meat from outside to the police, colleges and even NYS when we have KMC? We hope that a big portion of it will go to rehabilitation and modernisation of KMC so that pastoralists can benefit."
