    "content": "Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for giving me a chance to ventilate on this issue raised by Hon. Maore. He has raised, indeed, serious issues but in my understanding of his issues in a way that demeans the committees. My understanding is that, although committees have the same powers as the High Court, that power must be exercised judiciously, with discretion. Indeed, I have had the chance in the past to serve in the Public Investments Committee. Before a matter is taken up by a committee, I expect that members, particularly the leadership of the committees, would know exactly how they should go about the matter that is before them. It is not possible and it is not right to say that committees should not take up matters that appear in the media. They have the discretion to take up matters from whatever source. It can come to them from the media, it can come to them from an informer, it can come to them from interested parties."
