"content": "Coming to VAT, the devil is in the details. Issues have been brought to this House concerning medicines. There are people who are on terminal diseases, which have to be treated throughout one’s lifespan. Some industries have to buy raw materials from sources where they must pay VAT. If we put them under the category of tax exemption, the manufacturers will load the cost of VAT to the product price and transfer it to consumers. The cost of goods will be high. Therefore, I would like to propose that when it comes to revision of this particular clause, we need to be very careful not to move those commodities or services to the tax exempt category. Doing so will affect our people as commodities will become very costly for them."
