"content": " Hon. Speaker, I am not responding but I am looking at the urgency of this matter. I am also from that region in western Kenya. Hon. Mwale being a Member of my Committee on Energy, I know this is a matter that requires urgent attention of this House. As much as the Departmental Committee on Agriculture and Livestock is busy, it does not prevent them from writing to the Cabinet Secretary in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to respond to this matter even in the course of next week. We expect them to table their Report within 10 days and the counting started yesterday. The Clerk can still write a letter to the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Agriculture to respond to this matter and a date can be set for the Cabinet Secretary to appear before the Committee in Parliament and address this matter. The CEO who was suspended should be given a fair chance to present his case before the Committee. We are the peoples’ representatives. Article 95 of the Constitution gives us the power of representation. Therefore, Hon. Tindi Mwale is in order to represent his constituents on this important matter that will also save the people of Mumias region and the people of western Kenyan on the issue of sugar. Sugar is a very emotive issue in this country. We need to give him the necessary assistance as a House."
