"content": "TTI) had many admissions. I realised that the NYS had sent 100 youth there to undergo training paid for by the Government. I also inquired from Sigalagala TTI and there are 300 youth training there in different disciplines also having been paid for by the Government. My feeling is the NYS needs to be restructured. The objective of the NYS is good, but a few individuals have taken up its running to pilferage money. We need to relook at the NYS and amend the Act to ensure there is no theft. The NYS has produced many people with a lot of technical knowledge. In our Jua Kali shades we have so many people working on machines or having acquired various disciplines like motor vehicle mechanics sponsored by the NYS. We need to encourage NYS so that we can make use of the many TTIs we are putting up. People who go through the NYS are those who want to be trained. Once they place an advertisement people come willingly. Those going to disciplined services know very well what they are going to do. We have realised in this country we have a shortage of people with a technical knowhow and this is the place where they can acquire it. The recruitment at the NYS, tells us these are youth coming from poor backgrounds looking for training opportunities. This is the only place they can be trained. Therefore, let us encourage them to join NYS to be trained and serve this country. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker."
