"content": "We have seen so many rich people and cartels looking at NYS as an entry point. They see NYS as the easiest point of embezzling funds. It is a shame that anywhere there is corruption; usually the channels and avenues of that corruption are the institutions that target the youths and persons living with disabilities. That is where you find corruption cartels finding their ways into those avenues. We need to address the issue of NYS seriously to make it lucrative to our young people because they are many. Kenya has so many young people who are looking for employment which we do not have. We should also talk about the curriculum. For example, how different is NYS curriculum? The aim of the NYS is to instil a sense of discipline in the young people, so that they are able to be absorbed into the mainstream jobs and markets. What does the police force do? They also instil discipline. So, it is just a matter of transition. We need to transit and make sure that these NYS graduates who come back to our villages, hotels and counties are usually the number one priority when the disciplined forces are looking for youths to join the KDF and Kenya Police Service. That is a requirement. That way we will ensure that we transition our young people who do not get employment. These are young people who do not get chances to get into institutions of higher learning like universities. They go to vocational centres, join NYS and other areas but they are not employed."
