"content": "Can we get the Committee to address the issue of the safety of the sugar in the shelves? Whether the contamination is through moisture content or presence of any substance like tobacco mixing with sand, please, we want to know whether it is safe or not. That is what Kenyans want to know. The moment you get into many of these issues, you get conflicted. Obviously, you will get conflicted and it will be very difficult for you to come up with a report that really addresses the issue of health. According to both Hon. Kanini Kega and Hon. Kathuri Murungi and I think that is the same thing Hon. Tuitoek, Member for Mogotio has been saying, since the sugar that was imported was massive in quantities, then the instruction should be to the relevant ministry to undertake countrywide sampling and report so that when you say 64 per cent of 174, in itself is not enough. The number of counties the samples were taken are only 18. That is a small sample given that sugar is distributed throughout the country."
