"content": "Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for also giving me this opportunity to welcome the students from Sigiria Secondary School, Migori County, to the Senate. As the Senator for Kisumu County has said, the current unrests in our schools are highly condemned. A civilized society is open to discussion by solving issues through negotiations, and this is very open in our schools. I want to tell the students who are here that discipline is important. Some students think that academics is more important than character. However, I wish to inform them that most of us were not very brilliant as such, but discipline has brought us to where we are today. I encourage them that as they go back, they should preach the good news that Senators demand from them nothing but discipline. We are also sending a message from the Committee on Education that we are totally in support of the Government measures that have been put in place to curb this menace of burning schools in our country. The students who have burnt their schools will carry their own cross and it will affect their lives for a long time.
