    "content": "Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, allow me to thank the Members for their contribution to this very important Bill and for supporting it. As they have said, a number of our laws need to be amended. From the comments by Sen. (Prof.) Ongeri, I have noticed that the current Salaries and Remuneration Commission Act has reference to “the Prime Minister in consultation with the President.” However, the provision in Clause 7(4) and 7(10) state “until after the first general election.” This means that the provision does not hold after the general elections. Nonetheless, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank you very much. I beg to move and, at this juncture, request under Standing Order 53(3), that the putting of the question for this Bill be deferred to a later date."
