"content": "Today is a great day. Before I offer my heartfelt congratulations, I want Hon. Members to know that I have lobbied for Hon. Samuel Chepkong’a. First of all, I pleaded with His Excellency the President. Following that formal structure, I went to the Deputy President and the Speaker of the National Assembly, who happens to be the Chairman of the PSC. I went to the Leader of the Majority Party, Hon. Aden Duale. Apart from the Leader of the Majority Party, I also persuaded Dr. Naomi Shaban - a former Minister - who campaigned for me during the last elections. Hon. Samuel Chepkong’a happens to be my predecessor. He is a qualified Kenyan fit for this position. Speaking on behalf of Ainabkoi residents, we support the nomination and subsequent appointment and approval from the Hon. Members of Parliament. Every so often, the human spirit finds it difficult to have the grace to accept the appointment of a former opponent. I, William Chepkut, am a different sort of person. I support, from the bottom of my heart, the nomination of Samuel Chepkong’a. Let me give you a brief history. When I was the personal assistant of the late Hon. Biwott and in charge of all petitions, issues and appointments, I persuaded him and the former second President of the Republic of Kenya to appoint Hon. Chepkong’a as the Director-General or the CEO of the then CCK. Apart from that, I want all of you to know that I am a man of God."
