    "content": "Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, thank you for this opportunity. I have listened to my brother talk about the forest cover. A hawk’s eye interrogation of this Report reveals that there has been encroachment of gigantic proportions on our forests. Let us also take cognisance of the fact that in those forests, there are officers who are working day and night to ensure that what we have as a country is protected. I heard him also mention the Mau issue yesterday. It is important as politicians to realise that even as we problematise issues that relate to posterity for the people of Kenya, it is prudent that we do that in a sober manner. I am sure my colleagues are aware of what has happened in Mau Forest. That is what politics can do even for a good job. As the Member for Gem, we have on our own volition planted trees in Nguge - which is in West Gem - so that we support the initiative of the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) to ensure that the forest cover in this country improves. Having said that, my brother said that there is a hotel in Karura Forest. It is important that we are factual when we mention some of those things. Because I have gone there, what exists in Karura Forest is an ecosystem-friendly hotel, which is helpful to the forest officers. They have a place to go. He mentioned that it was managed by the wife of the KFS Chair. It was managed before Mr. Peter Kinyua became the Chair. It was given to the wife in 2015. In the task force Report of April 2018 that I have, there is no mention of Peter Kinyua as complicit during that investigation. I also have a Report that I expunged. It shows that this cafeteria, which has existed since October 2015, has consistently paid the KFS. This cafeteria existed even before Peter was appointed by His Excellency the President as the KFS Chair. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
