You will notice that, for example, in the European Union (EU), they have general data protection regulations which set out the framework for doing business within the EU, protecting individual data and putting responsibilities on data subjects, which is the person whose data has been collected, as well as data processors or handlers; the organisations or individuals both public and private that usually hold data about us."
