    "content": "12. (1) The Registrar shall compile and keep a register of nurses and midwives in the prescribed form. (2) Every person eligible to be registered as a nurse or midwife may apply in the prescribed form to the Registrar for registration and every such application shall be accompanied by the prescribed fee. (3) Subject to payment of a retention fee, there shall be entered and maintained in the appropriate register the name and address of every person entitled to be registered under this Act together with his or her professional qualifications and such other particulars as may be prescribed by the Council. (4) Every person registered under this Act who has obtained a higher degree or qualification other than the qualification in respect of which he has been registered, shall be entitled to have that higher degree or additional qualification inserted in the register in substitution for or in addition to the qualification previously registered, upon paying the prescribed fee. The amendment seeks to introduce a new subsection to provide for the payment of retention fee for the purposes of maintenance of names in the register."
