"content": "The NCPB which we have said has done a disservice to farmers will just be another warehouse. We will have licensed private warehouses and Government warehouses. We are trying to cure the small farmers’ problems. Even large-scale farmers will use the warehouses for business. So, we should not say that it will not work. I have had the benefit of seeing the system work and I assure the House that it will work and that it will be a very good system that will help our farmers, who end up selling their produce to third parties. I am told - and my colleague has said it - there is maize being imported from Uganda in my area. A lot of maize is being imported from Uganda and Tanzania. There is freedom of doing business among the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) countries. There should be no fear about the system."
