    "content": "(b) On receipt of the report on the flooding, my Ministry dispatched a response team from the Crisis Response Centre to the affected area and conducted an assessment which established the affected households. All the affected households, as has been said earlier, were immediately issued with mosquito nets, blankets, tarpaulins, jerry cans, household and water treatment chemicals, soap for use at the time of displacement and food. On long-term basis, my Ministry in consultation with other stakeholders and other line Ministries has come up with a strategy so that that river will not affect the same communities again. The efforts made include desilting of the dams along the river, diversion of the river, building of dykes along the river, the local community to unblock the canals of the drainage system on their farms and, finally, to move the people away from the river bank so that they are not affected again."
