However, the complaints that come from the athletes are that the Act is not followed to the letter and there are situations where they are taxed twice. I once handled a case for Ms. Lorna Kiplagat who had bought equipment that she wanted to invest in the sports stadium that they have built in Iten. It took many months for them to even be given tax breaks for that investment. Tax is a complex area of practice. Sen. Orengo will tell you that tax matters are complex areas of practice both for the tax people and those involved in tax law. Without the support to the athletes, some of them feel that even the declaration forms that they have to fill are extremely tedious.
