"content": "Another issue I would like to talk about is the National Housing Development Fund (NHDF). This is a wonderful idea. It has happened in many jurisdictions. In Singapore, when Lee Kuan Yew took over, one of the critical things he dealt with was housing where people were contributing. The proposal for this fund should not give room for corruption. This is my worry and unless there is a clear framework… We have been told in one of the proposals that when you put your money there, you will be paid back, if at all you do not get a house. When it comes to allocation of houses, it will be done through random sampling. We have known random sampling in this country. It is being purposive. It is high time we supported this, but there must be a clear framework on how this fund will work because it worked very well in Singapore."
