I have been doing many programmes on female genital mutilation and the effects of early child marriages, which are some of the factors that contribute to fistula. As a nation, when we have 6 million of our women and girls affected by fistula in one way or another, we cannot take it for granted. It is a big population. It is a group we cannot just ignore. The Constitution is very clear on the provision of healthcare. It is compulsory free universal healthcare for every person in this country. So, it is crucial that the Ministry of Health critically looks at how they can positively and indiscriminately recruit doctors who are specialised in fistula repairs. They can help this country.
