    "content": "I am grateful to members of the public and the consumers of the pharmaceutical products who send views, memoranda or words of encouragement to the Committee and the House. Now that we are concluding with the Bill, I challenge the Health Committee to either regulate or control the cost of medicinal services and pharmaceutical products. This Committee is under moral obligation to deal with the rising cost of healthcare in our country. You can have a patient in Nairobi Hospital for six days and you will be told to pay Kshs 6million. Kenyans are going to India not because it has a better healthcare but because they are running away from the high healthcare cost in our country. We have turned this profession into a money minting venture. That is why many parents want their children to go to the school of medicine. They do not want their children to do any other course because they know once they become doctors that is the easiest route to riches in our country. So, this Committee must deal with the rising cost of healthcare in our country. It must deal with the rising cost of pharmaceutical products and other medical supplies."
