    "content": "Under this Act, SASRA was given the sole mandate to provide guidelines for the protection of members’ deposits. Members’ deposits should be protected from mismanagement and embezzlement. So, the Regulatory Authority’s main mandate was to provide regulation for SACCO Societies and protection of members’ deposits by, creating Deposit Guarantee Fund. The Society Act of 2008 created Deposit Guarantee Fund. The Act was further intended to create room for transparency, accountability and good governance in the management of SACCOs in our country."
