"content": "Whenever names come in this House for approval, especially after they have been vetted, we always go through and ensure there is a woman. That already indicates there is gender sensitivity that is already starting to germinate. Once the law is made, it is even going to be much better than ever before. When you look at KCPE results, there was a young boy and a young girl. They were both with almost the same marks; 453, I think that is what I remember seeing. So, women are struggling, they are trying. We must also think of the future. The future is such that anything can happen to the women and men. Even men may be one day so few in Parliament. This law is going to be useful to them. So, we are putting in a law that is cutting both ways. It is a law that is going to support women to come into this House. It is also going to support men who are today enjoying the majority in this House. When time comes when they will be fewer, the law is going to work for them. I think it is a good law that is going to support both men and women. It is also going to sensitise the entire country that anything we do must streamline gender in whatever we do. We must sensitise the world and make sure women are not left behind. We must make sure that women, people with disability and people who come from minority communities are represented. Representation is very critical. A society that does not give a chance to women is a dead one. It is a society that is collapsing. You must ensure that women are on board all the time. To me, we are making a big history to ensure that both genders are going to be represented here on equal terms."
