"content": " Hon. Speaker, in 2010 immediately after the promulgation of the current Constitution, there was very heated debate in this country about the perks of the Members of Parliament and whether we were supposed to pay taxes or not. I remember that time we had made a trip to the United Kingdom in the House of Commons and I asked them how the public perceives their perks. They told us that Members of Parliament are never loved anywhere. In fact, there is no country in the world where salaries of Members of Parliament will be supported by the public. That is from the House of Commons. Therefore, I just want to tell my colleagues that what we are seeing is global trend. It is not just unique to this country. Hon. Junet is saying it is not a Suba affair, neither is it a Garissa affair."
