"content": "Further, I support their adopting because it is in principle and in line with our Integrated National Transport Policy (INTP) which seeks to liberalise air transport and improve our safety. That is something that should have been done a long time ago. These Agreements are in line with our laws and Constitution. On a broader sense, they are in line with the Yamoussoukro Agreement done in 1999 and endorsed by African Heads of State in 2002. It seeks to ease transport in Africa, improve safety and lower fares. The fares we are charged in this country are high. The Kenya Airways fares between Kisumu and Nairobi and between Nairobi and Mombasa are high. At one time, I used the same amount to travel from New York to Seattle in Washington State, a journey of six hours. In Kenya, it is a journey of just 30 minutes. The fares are out of this world."
