Mr. Kinyanjui rose on a point of order about Standing Order, No.159 which sets out the process in which select committees of this House are nominated to serve on select committees. It states clearly that:- âUnless otherwise provided by any written law or these Standing Orders, the House Business Committee shall, in consultation with parliamentary parties, nominate, for approval by the House, Members who shall serve on any select committee.â Mr. Speaker, Sir, I as a Member of Parliament belonging to a parliamentary political party, I am not aware of any attempt whatsoever from the Party of National Unity (PNU) of consultations. Therefore, there is a new question to which we seek your guidance. Is this Motion really properly before the House? Mr. Speaker, Sir, Standing Order No.160 says that in constituting select committees, the House Business Committee will pay attention to matters of gender, ethnicity and geography. However, when you read the list proposed, the first 13 names, five of them belong to the geographical region generally known---"
