    "content": "Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I rise to support the Bill. I note, with some element of disappointment, that the said Bill is not on this machine and, therefore, I am unable to access it here. Madam Temporary Speaker, I am aware that there is a lot of interest in this Bill. The idea of merging the two entities that are managing this portfolio is being resisted so much that it has been very difficult to arrive at a consensus as to how to move this matter forward. Our voice must be heard on what appears to be a contest between this two major retirement benefits schemes; the Local Authorities Pensions Trust (LAPTRUST) and the Local Authorities Provident Fund (LAPFUND). Those who resist the merger can only do so on the basis of personal interests and not interests of the people who will benefit from this scheme.
