"content": "Another area that touches the lives of many people across our communities is that of bursary funds. I believe that the 35 per cent allocation of the national budget should be increased to 40 per cent because the number of needy students has been increasingly going up, particularly now that there is fairness in the sharing of these funds. Everybody wants to get a share of the money. The money goes directly to schools in the form of cheques that are accompanied by lists of the beneficiaries. Can you even tell who is given the money from the other funds? You will never be able to tell, and nobody asks. Where the Government is putting money, there must be a process to evaluate and monitor the same to ensure that the money is used for the intended purpose for the good of the constituents."
