"content": "As I said it is very sad. I was speaking to someone this afternoon and they told me, “Senator, our country is becoming rubbish and it hurts”. I told them: “Yeah, you are right, but we will do something about it”. The reason why I have sat here, even if it is midnight, to say something about this is because I was asked this afternoon by somebody: “Do you hold fort for someone?” At that point, I did not think much about it and I said: “No, I do not hold fort for someone. I speak for myself”. But I would like that and I say, “yes, I do hold fort for someone.” that is, the poor person, the most vulnerable Kenyan who is adversely and disproportionately affected by corruption. That is the person who has been denied access to basic services and who has been affected by violent extremism because of corruption. You can relate corruption to all these things and more."
