The truth is that the perception created is that the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing was either compromised or slept on the job and, therefore, PIC felt like running with the issue. In my view, we should be allowed to exercise our mandate and look at this document critically and bring a report to this House. After that, if there are issues of audit, then PIC can take them up according to the mandate given by the Standing Orders. Otherwise, I have seen the main problem of this House is creating rumours where none exist. It has been said in the media. The media seems to know much more than we do regarding this matter. Therefore, to restore the dignity of this House, I beg that you make a ruling that will allow us to have a retreat, which is supposed to start this evening until Sunday and we bring a good Report."
