"content": "Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, pursuant to Standing Order 48(1), I rise to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Lands, Environment and Natural Resources, on the ongoing crisis involving the grabbing of public land in Lamu County by a private investor. In the Statement, the Committee should:- (1) Explain the status of the Report of the National Land Commission (NLC), with regard to the proposed land audit in Lamu County and whether the notice for the revocation of land title deeds issued by the NLC dated 2nd February, 2017, with regards to parcels of land in Lamu County was effected. (2) Explain the status of the following parcels of land; LR No.29113; LR No.29111; LR No.29254; LR No.29066; LR No.29067; LR No.29255; LR No.29323 and LR No.29260, in terms of ownership as they have been listed for revocation. (3) State the measures the National Government is putting in place to protect innocent land owners from the rampant land grabbing within Lamu County given the major government projects currently being undertaken in the County. (4) Whether the Cabinet Secretary is aware of private investors claiming ownership of huge chunks of land LR N0.12352/328 at Mkondoni in Hindi within Lamu County, evicting innocent occupants using unverifiable court orders.
