"content": "This meeting was held in Dakar, Senegal last year. My Committee received a letter dated 16th August 2018 in which the African Union (AU) had written to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and an invitation was extended to the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations. Also the invitation to attend this meeting was extended to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Legal Department, the Office of the Attorney-General, the East African Community (EAC), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Secretariat, as well as the Member States from the two Regional Economic Communities (RECs). This was to popularize and promote the ratification of the Protocol on Free Movement of Persons in Africa. Its implementation roadmap was adopted by the AU Assembly in January 2018 and Kenya signed that Protocol on 21st March 2018."
