    "content": " Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I equally rise to support this Motion in regard to remuneration of our good elders. I echo what my colleagues have said but equally add that these village elders act as land surveyors in our villages, arbitrators, mediators and dowry negotiators. These are people who play a major role in the society. When there arise disputes that require elderly intervention, our village elders are called upon. They are judges and everything. The Government also uses them as National Intelligence Service (NIS) officials for intelligence collection for the chiefs, sub-chiefs and generally the Government of Kenya. Unfortunately, these people are never considered when it comes to matters of motivating them. We might not really say that they need to be paid but I think we need to come up with something that gives them some form of motivation to proceed with their role.
