    "content": " Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to join my colleagues in supporting the Salaries and Remunerations Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2018 (Senate Bill No.12 of 2018). Sometimes it is important that the nominating authorities are given timelines. If we do not do that, they can sit on the selection of their own representative thus messing up the Commission. In the past, I remember when the Senate and the National Assembly were nominating a representative to sit in the SRC, it took a while. If the Commission fails to raise a quorum by even just one person, it will not undertake its job. So, this amendment to give the nominating bodies 28 days to make decisions and submit the names of their nominees to the Cabinet The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
