    "content": "The role of police is to protect the lives and property of people. That is the duty of the police. As Mr. Mutyambai takes up the position of IG of police, my plea to him is to first ensure that the police reforms that are proposed in the new Constitution are adhered to. The reforms will go a long way in ensuring that there is confidence and trust between people and the police service. I also urge him, as he takes up the responsibility, to look at the welfare of the police in terms of police infrastructure. He needs to ensure that there are enough vehicles assigned to each police station and police post. He also needs to ensure the police are well remunerated. Their allowances should be paid. Police officers need to be supported. He also needs to look at the medical cover of all police officers in the country. In order for that to happen, Hilary must work more than his predecessor."
