    "content": "Thank you very much, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to request for a Statement. Pursuant to Standing Order 48(1), I rise to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on Education on the challenge of water and sanitation facing our public schools. In the statement the Committee should- (a) State whether the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, has established a water and sanitation policy for schools. (b) Table previous periodic assessment reports indicating the status of water and sanitation coverage in schools. (c) Explain the progress made towards establishing mechanisms for provision of water and sanitation services that is commensurate with the population of learners. (d) State the actionable way forward in providing clean drinking water and sanitation services that meet the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No.6, which seeks to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. (e) Explain measures put in place to equip learners with high level knowledge and personal hygiene and sanitation."
