    "content": "Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to continue seconding this Motion. This Motion is very noble and we cannot afford to ignore the people who live on the streets. According to Article 1 of the Constitution, this country belongs to the people of Kenya and the street families are also Kenyan citizens. They, therefore, have the powers. As a nation, we have to come up with mechanisms to protect street families. The State is supposed to protect its citizens. We need to protect street families wherever they are. Of late, we have been talking of Huduma Namba and I wonder if any officer was sent to the streets to register the street families. We cannot ignore street families for they are part of us and we must empathize with them. As a nation, we have to do something about the street families. This nation will not achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), if we do not empathize with the street families. We have to treat street families with dignity because it is a constitutional demand and the Senate has to defend the Constitution. We cannot say that we are walking the talk if we are not concerned about street families. I want to warn the people who are in Government offices who are waiting for this Motion to be passed, for them to come up with organizations in the name of taking care of street families, just for them to collect money and pocket as street families languish in the streets. As a Senate, God will judge us if we do not make life better for street families. Nobody ever chooses the family to be born in. You find yourself born into a certain family. So, if you find yourself in the streets, it is not your wish to be there."
