"content": "The Nuclear Regulatory Bill (National Assembly Bill No.27 of 2018) seeks to repeal the Radiation Protection Act, Cap.243 and provide a comprehensive regulatory framework for radiation and nuclear safety, nuclear security and safeguards, control radiation sources and nuclear materials and associated waste. The Bill also aims to protect people, property and the environment from harmful effects of exposure to radiation and proliferation of nuclear materials in accordance with the national and international obligations. Kenya is a signatory to the International Atomic Agency. It has also subscribed. The Bill will go a long way in enabling Kenya to ratify important treaties we need to comply with so that the country can explore the use of other sources of energy."
