    "content": "The aviation industry is facing a lot of challenges like competition from other airports and airlines within the region. The competitiveness of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is declining compared to other regional airports like in Ethiopia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and some in Africa. Reduced investments in the aviation industry, profitability of JKIA and the decline and slow growth of passenger numbers are the other challenges. This is attributed to the high cost of flying into Nairobi because we still charge landing fees for other airlines to come to Kenya and that affects the cost of travelling. Therefore, most passengers do not prefer to use our Kenyan route. All these factors and many others affect the aviation industry in Kenya. There is also a lot of focus on aeronautical services and not non-aeronautical ones which in other jurisdictions are key in determining profitability of the aviation industry."
