"content": "In these visits, the Committee inquired into the various matters arising from the Petitions and Statements referred to it. The Committee collected useful views from the public and stakeholders on various matters. The visits have been very useful in the execution of the Committee`s mandate. Madam Temporary Speaker, we were dealing with conservancies in Isiolo and Samburu, where we found out that the people who are dealing with conservancies are doing a wonderful job. If the entire Kenya, where there is wildlife is allowed to engage conservancies, we will be talking of a very good economy within those areas. In these visits, the Committee inquired into various matters arising from the Petitions and Statements referred to it, and collated useful views. That is what I was explaining; that in some of these areas like Laikipia, we had an issue where the people who had settled in forest land were removed from that land and replaced with others. It is important that the people who were removed from that land be reallocated land elsewhere. This is because it is inhuman to remove people from where they are settled and replace them with other people. They are Kenyans and should be taken care of by the Government. Madam Temporary Speaker, the Committee would like to highlight the following areas that will form part of its business for the next quarter - (1)Tackling developing concerns in the housing sector under the Big Four Agenda. The Committee intends to host a high level conference on affordable housing with all the 47 County Executive Committee (CEC) Members in charge of housing and the relevant Government implementing agencies. (2) Engage relevant stakeholders on the matter of human-wildlife conflict, which has continued to be a challenge. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor, Senate."
