"content": "The net effect of trade imbalance in the country is gross unemployment. That is what is ailing our country. It is the reason every Kenyan is crying out there that we have many educated people, but who are unemployed. Unless we are able to sit down and see what the root cause of such unemployment is, we will never cure the problem. We are discussing a very important issue here which is trade imbalances between countries: Kenya and the rest of the world. Once it does not favour Kenya, it leads to unemployment. If we address this, we are able to address the problem of unemployment. Once we cure unemployment, our rate of production goes high and we have a lot more to export as a result of which we will receive more foreign currency which will cover whatever we are importing from out there. So, our Central Bank must be on the lookout on how to inject our money, especially subsidies in importation. Subsidies will definitely increase the trade deficit which is also a trade imbalance."
